Hello, my name is Jake. I am a cyber technologist at Awen, undertaking a placement year and will be returning to Cardiff University to complete my Msc in Computing. I am new to the cybersecurity sector and enjoy being given a challenge that requires me to test myself, learn new concepts and put them into practice, something that seems will keep me busy in this industry.
Having begun my career in the heritage building industry, a sector funded largely through tourism. The pandemic helped me to decide on a change of vocation to follow another of my passions in IT. So far the Awen team has been very welcoming and I look forward to working with them to use my newly learnt skills.
I am a qualified bench joiner (glorified carpenter) and in my spare time I enjoy butchering wood, mainly creating pieces for myself, friends and family. I also enjoy getting out on my bike to keep fit, am a keen cook and in my downtime play a variety of video games.
